The hard work and support of our PTA bless St. Peter School each year. Through their fundraising efforts, the school has been able to implement several improvements this summer that directly affect the safety and security of our school, as well as foster continued faith development and expansion of marketing efforts. Beginning in July, the school began Phase 1 of our plan to expand and improve our security cameras, software, and phone system. This involved updating the cameras on the school’s front door and adding a buzzer/camera system for the Annex entrance. This involved extensive wiring and electrical work. Phases 2 and 3 will involve a new “latch” system for the front doors to replace the current magnet system in use, as well as a new server to handle more cameras.
In August, Blackout Tinting from Latrobe installed security film on all three doors of the school and the front door of the Annex. The film is shatter-resistant should anyone try to enter the school by force. It is also tinted and reflective so that anyone outside the school cannot see students inside. See the picture above for the amazing changes to our entrances. Next week, we are installing a new light on the pole in the front of the school. This will significantly improve the visibility for teachers and students during our darker winter mornings and evenings, as well as for late-working teachers. The ‘dusk to dawn’ lighting inside the pavilion will further enhance safety and security, ensuring the pavilion is well-lit and visible on our recordings throughout the night.
The PTA has also funded the recent Hallow School Partnership this year as well as covering the cost of a complete overhaul of our school website. We are eternally grateful to Mrs. Carol Wagner, our former parish administrator, and her son Sam, who lovingly ran our website these past years. The new website should be launched in September and will use our new school domain. More information will be sent out to parents about this in the coming weeks.
Thank you to the current and past PTA members for their hard work and loving hearts that made all of these improvements possible as well as all those who support the PTA fundraisers.
