Our 2024 Forensics Team competed in the Johnstown /Altoona Regional Competition on Friday, March 15th at Bishop Carroll High School. All thirteen team members did an amazing job in their speech categories where they competed against students in grades 6-8. Of the 13 team members who attended, 9 placed in the top of their category to advance to the Diocesan competition at Holy Name Elementary School in Ebensburg on Friday, March 22nd. Of the nine who advanced to the Diocesan Competition, 8 brought medals home! This team of students has been practicing and memorizing their speech pieces since December. The top finishers at the Regional Competition included: In Impromptu: Emily Borek – Second Place; Persuasive: Zachary Swearman – Second Place; Drama: Koa Anderson – Fourth Place. In Duo Drama in First Place was Brooke Miller & Lidia Cacciotti, in Second Place – Hudson Clarke & Brody Stankan, and Third Place was Leila Stankan & Gabby Maurer.
At Friday’s Diocesan Competiton, the following students were awarded medals for their speeches: In Duo-Drama, winning the Second Place Medal – Lidia Cacciotti & Brooke Miller, Third Place Medal winners were Hudson Clarke & Brody Stankan and wining the Fourth Place Medal was Leila Stankan & Gabby Maurer. Emily Borek won the Fifth Place Medal in Impromptu and Zachary Swearman won the Fifth Place Medal in Persuasive. Students competed against fifth through eighth grade students from across the diocese.
