There is much to be celebrated from our school year in the little moments and the bigger events as well.
Fifth grader Jacob Zawisza won the St. Peter School Spelling Bee in April and the opportunity to compete in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocesan Spelling Bee in Lock Have on May 5th. Runner up for our school Spelling Bee was sixth grader Miley Sorensen. Jacob competed against 11 other spellers from around the diocese and placed third in the competition. We are so proud of you, Jacob! Special thanks to Mrs. Ulerich for coordinating our Spelling Bee events.
Congratulations to Third Grader Raymond Zhang who has been named a State Grade-Level Winner in the Zaner Bloser National Handwriting Contest. One student from each of our K-6 grades had their handwriting selected for the national contest. This year’s Classroom Handwriting Winners are: K—Wyatt Rhoades, Grade 1-Evan Gontis, Grade 2 –Sophia Zambanini, Grade 3—Raymond Zhang, Grade 4 –Aviana Shockey, Grade 5 –Molly Stoy and Grade 6—Miley Sorensen. Well done all!
The following students placed in the top positions for their class at the St. Peter School SCRABBLE tournament for grades 4-7 on Friday, March11th;Grade 4: 3rd Place-Aviana Shockey & Abigail Sleasman; 2nd Place –Hudson Clarke & Jackson Topper; 1st Place-Koa Anderson & Addyson Gontis. Grade 5: 3rd Place-Makala Jano & Kaitlynn Stahl; 2nd Place-Jacob Zawisza & Ruari Egal; 1st Place-Maria Cacciotti & Nathan Topper. Grade 6: 3rd Place-Ronin Bergstresser & Joshua Brinton; 2nd Place-Elias Glover & Gianna McKelvey; 1st Place-Maddox Santoyo & Spencer Zatko. On Friday, April 8th, the top two teams in each of our grades participated in the Somerset county SCRABBLE Tournament at Somerset Christian School. The 5th grade team of Maria Cacciotti and Nathan Topper won the First Place Trophy for their grade level. Congratulations Maria Cacciotti and Nathan Topper! Special thanks to Mrs. Robinson for coaching our teams this year and to all of our volunteer judges. Great job everyone!
