Lent is a special time at our school with opportunities to turn our faces towards Christ and walk into his outstretched arms of mercy and love. Each day the school gathers in the hallway to hear a short meditation on the daily Lenten readings and then hear a “faith challenge” to do that day as a Lenten prayer or act of service or fasting. Slowly the eggs that hold the faith challenges decorate the once barren Lenten tree to an Easter tree. Each class is also doing a service project during Lent and the school attends Stations of the Cross each Monday at noon. Later this month we will also have a Lenten Hot Lunch. We encourage families to find ways to make Lent a focus at home as well and to ask students about their daily faith challenge…which may or may not include setting the table a few times.
