Reaching Out to Others…a St. Peter School Christmas Tradition

Students at St. Peter School prepared their hearts for Christmas with various outreach projects during the Advent Season.  “Gifts for Baby Jesus” were collected during Advent for Birthright of Somerset, Inc., a local crisis pregnancy support service.  Items like blankets, outfits, diapers and wipes piled up under the school’s tree and ultimately filled a car trunk as students donated items that could be used by baby Jesus if He was born today.  Our sixth-grade students, led by fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Sheila Ulerich, sold donated jewelry items to students during Advent to raise funds for a local literacy project.  Students were able to purchase items for family members as Christmas gifts.  The Jewelry Cart raised $200 to be donated to the Somerset County Library for the “Dolly Parton Imagination Station” which will provide one book per month for one local child for five years and one book per month for one year for three local children.  Students also prayed together each morning and had a daily “faith challenge” to live out their preparations for Jesus’ birth.  Well done everyone!
