SUMMER READING

Needless to say, families, students and teachers will be ready for a well-earned break after this school year comes to a close this week. We do hope that this summer brings everyone some rest and relaxation and continued good health so that we can begin fresh and ready in the fall together. As we have always done, we sent home in student bags last week the Summer Reading Folders for students entering grades 1-6.  Students will have all summer to read and complete some reading activities on books or articles they choose to read. We also are pleased to announce that students will continue to have access to Accelerated Reader through the summer. We encourage students to keep reading as they have done these past months and take test using the same Accelerated Reader link as before. It is below for your use and it will be on our school website. This is the best way to return to school without too much loss of reading skills. Students who will be in grades 4-6 this fall are also encouraged to read Reading Competition books over the summer to be on our “Rock’n Readers” team this fall.  Summary Pages for Reading Competition titles as well as the grade specific lists are also found on the Forms tab of the website.  Also, these students can check out Reading Competition books from the St. Peter School office on Mondays and Wednesday from 8am – 2pm during June.  They can be kept for two weeks and then returned for another title.  Points earned by all students over the summer will be added into the First Grading Period totals for the 2020/2021 school year. All students entering grades 4-6 this fall also received the Reading Competition book list and information about summer requirements should students choose to participate next year in the fall. We are also posting below some Math resources if you choose to use them. As always, practicing Math facts at home will only help students with their Math curriculum each year. As always, thank you for your help and support at home.
