Fifteen sixth graders participated in the Johnstown Regional Forensics Competition on Friday, March 22nd at Holy Name Elementary School in Ebensburg PA. They competed in various speech categories that they have been working on since December and competed against 6th – 8th graders from the Johnstown Quadrant. This year’s team members and their speech categories were: Julianne Barto (Prose) Samantha Brinton (Prose) Hannah Jacob (Prose) Ava Guerrieri (Prose) Isabella Basala (Poetry) Dominic McKelvey (Poetry) Jude Glover (Informative) Ben Bowers (Drama) Sophia Morocco (Drama) Elyse Watkins & Kali Dirienzo (Duo Drama) Carson Vought & Cole Johnson (Duo Drama) Ethan Rosenbaum & Peyton Tatano (Duo Drama) Of the 15 competitors from our school, 12 students qualified to move on to the Altoona-Johnstown Diocesan Forensics Finals where they will compete against the winners from the other diocesan regions’ winners. Qualifiers included: Sophia Morocco, Elyse Watkins and Kali Dirienzo (2nd Place-DuoDrama) Ethan Rosenbaum & Peyton Tatano (3rd Place-DuoDrama) Carson Vought and Cole Johnson (4th Place-DuoDrama) Jude Glover (3rd – Persuassive) Ben Bowers (4th Drama) Julianne Barto (1st Place-Prose) Hannah Jacob (2nd Place-Prose) and Ava Guerrieri (4th Place Prose) The Diocesan Meet will be held on Friday, March 29th at Bishop Carroll High School. The team is coached by teachers, Mrs. Kelly Mateljan and Mrs. Lori Holloway and volunteer Mrs. Joanne Swearman. Good Luck to all and thanks for all our hard work representing St. Peter School!
